I Spent March Crocheting in Cuchifritos Gallery

As part of Lettuce, Artichokes, Red Beets, Mangoes, Broccoli, Honey and Nutmeg: The Essex Street Market as Collaborator, featuring projects by Laia Solé, Antonia Pérez, Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga, Mary Ting, Beatrice Glow, and Harley Spiller and curated by Nicolás Dumit Estévez Raful, I crocheted in the gallery as an ongoing performative action. During this period I made a new piece, Utterance, which was shown in April in an exhibition curated by Matthew Mahler at 245 Varet, Bushwick. Below are some of the process photos.

Big Piece About to Pop

I've been working on this piece since early April and this summer have spent long hours each day in the studio. With a few days left to complete the work before being picked up for a show (more about that later), I thought I would share a few detail shots of the work in progress. All is crocheted from plastic bags.
